Last week I flew out to Ranger for their annual airshow and fly-in. It's always good to see old friends and make some new ones. There's nothing quite like sitting next to your plane, under the stars, drinking a few beers and catching up.

Low ceilings on Saturday morning, but the sun peeked through for about 15 minutes!

Not many of our fly-ins have an airshow. It's a nice touch.

Nice Jack. Is that red/white one a Chipmunk? Haven't seen one of those since Art Scholl, who died while filming for "Top Gun".

Yep. Ron Cain puts on a nice show in his Chipmunk. I believe he told me he did around 7 shows last year and he's now in his 70's.

Ya know Jack, this constant posting of airplane porn is totally...

acceptable.

Always a pleasure to see your work. :)

Man, those are some sexy aircraft...gotta get my TD endorsement one of these days...

Thanks! I try to do my part. It's fun when I get to get out past the flight line. Some of these pics I had to convince myself to take the photo and not dive for cover!

I just finished up one logbook and started a new one. I was laughing when I did the math... 96% of my time is tailwheel! I have flown a few nose-draggers, but I just think tailwheel is more fun.

That's what I hear. There's actually only two places within a decent driving distance from me that even have them. One has an Aviat for acro training. The other planes are a cub and an old chief.

I don't have a lot of Cub time, but I have hundreds of hours in a Decathlon and a Chief. Both are fun planes. The Decathlon is fun for obvious reasons. The Chief was a blast if you just wanted to go fly around. The windows slid open from the front or the back, it flew 85mph max, it was easy to fly and easy to land. Had a lot of fun times in that plane.

Great job catching the light when the sun peaked out. I think seeing that kind of thing is what differentiates a photographer from someone that takes pictures. Your shots are outstanding and I know the owners are going to be thrilled to have them on a wall.

Fantastic job

Thank you. I skipped my coffee to get those photos! My friends were laughing when the sun went away for awhile and I put the camera away and headed for caffeine!

I totally agree. It's not just plane pictures, they're so well composed. You are an artist. Love it.

Ron's a great guy. Used to hangar close to him over at Aero Valley years ago. Haven't seen him in probably 25 years. It's great to know he and the Chippie are still around.
