Are you flying behind a Modern Glass Panel, perhaps a Cirrus, Diamond, or retro-fit Bonanza? It might be news to you that there’s a treasure trove of Flight Data right under your nose. Welcome aboard! Wayne, GeezerGeek Pilot

We had an instrument checkride failure in which we were able to pull the data and see exactly what happened. The FlySto analysis helped figure out some of the whys as well.

FlySto is a really great tool, at a really great price (free).

It's got some great post-flight debrief features - It'll tell you if you may have taken off or landed with the wrong altimeter setting, whether you got within 30 seconds of a near midair or wake turbulence (based on ads-b exchange data), and quite a few other things. It's well worth uploading your data and learning from your flights.

It even will import your data from adsb if you don’t have a fancy efis to pull it from.

Also kind of neat to see traffic in your area when reviewing your flight.

Some FlySto.net updates from the latest release.

What's new 19 Aug 2026:

Flight plan display (USA FPL SYNC)

You can now view and compare your filed flight plans directly alongside your actual flight data!

Plan vs. Actual: A new dedicated panel and map overlay let you easily compare the route you planned with the route you actually flew.

Auto-syncs FAA flight plans to your logs (U.S. GA flights only).

Aircraft on the FAA privacy (LADD) list are hidden by default. If you own a blocked aircraft, just email us at [email protected] to verify ownership and enable this feature.

New flag configuration options for multi-engine aircraft

For "all engines” Option: Use this setting to trigger a flag only when your specified condition is met across all engines simultaneously.

"Asymmetric Thrust” Condition: Use this to restrict a flag specifically to real or simulated engine failure scenarios.

"Not Asymmetric Thrust” Condition: Use this to explicitly exclude engine failure scenarios from triggering the flag

Have fun calming those fire breathing twin engined machines and stay clear of Vmc.

Yaw damper support in flags

If your aircraft is equipped with a yaw damper and utilizes Garmin G3X avionics, you can now monitor the yaw damper’s state within your flag configurations.

Predefined flags: Two new predefined flags are now available to verify that the yaw damper is properly turned off during the takeoff and landing phases.

Fly safe,
