How much thought and credibility does the flight surgeon put into a psychiatric evaluation when it is favorable compared to unfavorable. For example if it is unfavorable they will agree with whatever the report says compared to justifying other means on the favorable report.

The AMEs here seem to imply pretty consistently that whatever the worst thing on your report says is what the FAA will believe until thousands of dollars are spent proving otherwise.

I'm pretty sure they'll start with why you underwent it in the first place and what diagnosis may have been recorded for the visit.

There's plenty of room for them to formulate their own opinion, which is what matters for the applicant. That process very often requires more documentation, however.

If you require a psychiatric evaluation, the decision is likely going to be made in OKC. You’re also likely to be told by the FAA exactly what needs to he addressed in the report.

The FAA can only read what’s provided in the report.
