I picked up my 172 a couple days ago after a month in the avionics shop. I had considerable work done and have a few questions for those that have been flying /G for a while. I know the G5 is brand new, but maybe someone can help.
Plane also has an STEC 30 + ALT autopilot.

- The G5 supports GPSS emulation. I find the 430W will anticipate turns (has the dashed lines and everything) and turn the plane early, but I will still overshoot anything but the gentlest of turns. This shouldn't be an issue in a 110 kt plane. Can this be adjusted?
- The AI G5 shows a bit nose-up in level flight. Other forum discussions lead me to believe that per STC the G5 must be leveled to when the plane is leveled on stands, not "straight and level flight". One argument forthis is that wouldn't it be nice to know you were flying a bit nose-up to maintain level flight? Or, read a different way, this method shows you where the true horizon is. Unfortunately, a 50 y/o steam gauge, you can adjust in flight, which is what we're all used to.
- The FlightStream 210 interfaces with Foreflight amazingly well. However, the accuracy widget will now show the Connext accuracy signal vs the Stratus signal, even when you've selected the Stratus as your GPS. Really, this shouldn't matter, except the Garmin antenna only gets about 5m accuracy whereas the Stratus is always 1m or less. This seems more like a bug than anything, or maybe Foreflight assumes we want to know the Garmin hard-mount antenna's accuracy no matter what?
