Predator drones to be equipped with ADS-B system to fly cooperatively and safely

As long as I don't hear "Target Acquired" over the radio as a response to ATC calling out my position as a traffic advisory!

That's one way for the government ,to get us to comply. No ADSB ,check your six.

yup, no biggie....every UAS over 600 lbs is equipped with a transponder.....so they're being upgraded.:rolleyes2:

Well duh...drone separation with aircraft is the primary reason for ADS-B, IMO.

That ain't gonna work very well for the Champ, Cub, and Luscombe crowd.

We're operating 2 right now...one at about 350 lbs and one at 130. Both have transponders. I think BW is right, ADS-B will help with the deconfliction considerably, if not completely. However, in my neck of the woods, we currently utilize "Ground-based Sense and Avoid," which is tied in to local Approach ASR to provide situational awareness in regards to non-cooperative (VFR) aircraft.

I'm totally sold. I will now forget that I had a 200' pass with a UAV over a major international city while under positive control above transition altitude

Didn't happen in my neck of the woods and definitely wasn't one of ours. The vendors however, (from what I've seen) do it the way they want.

I could also make a guess about that one but won't without additional info. ;)
