Saw a thread like this on the red board, thought I'd start it here. Post any memorable photos from flights in instrument conditions, here are a few of mine from Saturday

Here is one from a training flight a few weeks ago. I have some 0' vis ones but I can't seem to find them.

Hah!

Not true IMC, but one of my favorites.

Not in flight, but...

GPS 27 into my home airport, KTIP. Blah.

Although, I like this one much better... coming through to on top in the St. Louis area.

This was at the bottom of the ILS 32 I think it was into St. Paul, MN... not technically an IMC day as I recall, but I did have to come through the overcast to a rather scuzzy looking Minneapolis skyline. Definitely, not the prettiest I have ever seen it look. :rolleyes2:

And here is another one I dug up coming back home from somewhere... rainy day. :(

Don't have many.

That first one was when I was between two overcast layers. It felt like I was flying over an ocean of milk in some alien world.

That last one is my favorite. I was flying over KMDW at 5000 and flew over that Southwest 737 intercepting the 4R localizer. It was cooler to see in real life. The plane seemed so much closer and looked bigger, and it was just moving so fast!

Heres some of mine in the 99:

1200RVR takeoff out of SFO

Night IMC over Bakersfield picking up ice at like 4am

Day IMC over the Sierras on the way to SFO, icing was so bad the windshield heater couldn't keep up

Ice I pulled off the nose on the ramp at SFO. SFO was VFR and temps in the 60s

Just took these last Saturday. This was departing Addison early morning for Big Bend Texas.

Quite awhile ago I shot this video with my phone. Thought the shadow looked cool descending into the layer.

Not exactly sure what I was doing in that picture - must have been getting vectors. Those needles are all over the place

David,

I've been in clouds. I sat back seat with a pilot and his CFI in the front two seats, he was instrument rated and getting ready for his commercial check ride. I saw them call on their cell phone and get clearance, went through the clouds, etc.

Ha! Love the sticky with the five T's.

I was gonna say, vectors or a procedure turn would be ok cause those needles are everywhere :p

Also, I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night. Seriously, what's up with all the laughing at me emoticons? I was just posting a website problem since Mari said "you beat me to it" and I wondered what was up.

If I'm flying an ILS into SAT pretty much as soon as I takeoff I'm getting vectors. I always get some weird routings out there too.

Kim, I don't get it either. Really childish.

That's the joke. There is nothing. Just a blank space - like IMC. You can't see anything.

Sun coming up over Indiana.

Yeah, the title of the thread was kinda misleading.. The joke is that I did not actually want people to post a bunch of pictures of the airplane in solid IMC, that would just be cockpits with a view of absolutely nothing out the window, a solid sheet of grey. Some jokester capitalized on this and posted a photo of 'nothing' :wink2:

I was looking for pics of airplanes between layers, breaking out on a scuzzy day, on top of a solid overcast or skimming the tops of clouds etc... things that you might experience when flying IFR on a day with a lot of active weather

Besides, Greg's pic is really of a polar bear in a snowstorm ... with his paws over his nose and his eyes closed ...

:D

So you wanted 50% of the pictures to be VMC?
