The Pilots of America website, name, and whatever else is owned by the Pilots of America non-profit corporation which is managed by the Management Council. The server which runs the website is located in the state of Nebraska, and is ran by a "team" of experienced IT professionals who run much larger web applications professionally.
We do not have any sponsors and so far have avoided the need to obtain any. We have at times, it's been many years, reached out to our members to raise funds for various initiatives and it's always a rather small amount of money. We do however avoid taking donations as history has shown that some of those who donate expect to be treated differently which we don't do. We've had to give people their "donations" back to them when they've became upset that they didn't get special treatment.
Most of the operating costs (monthly hosting) are paid for by a technical corporation that a few of us work for. That corporation has no interests that would control how we run the site.
The site is managed by the Management Council, currently the following members are on the council:

No individual management council member ever takes action on their own. Everything we do is the result of a certain number of required votes (depending on the action being taken). This keeps things pretty fair and balanced and drama free.
We make all our decisions based on the Rules of Conduct, located here:

We are "lazy" by design. We respond to issues on the website based on the complaints of our members. If we see something we may not "like" but our members aren't complaining about we generally let it be. I feel this serves our community the best. The last thing we want is the personal interests of the management council itself to steer the community. We let the community steer itself.
New management council members are selected by the management council when an existing member decides it's time for them to move on.
Thanks, we're pretty unique in the fact that we have such a large member base and no corporate interests that steer what we do.
