Relative to my previous posts here on asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis: I have a Class 3 medical certificate, valid for another 9 months or so, as well as recently-acquired Basic Med. I have an incidentally-discovered neck radiation-associated carotid artery stenosis that is asymptomatic (no "neurological events"). I elected to treat it operatively and underwent stenting of that stenosis (TCAR). The operation was uneventful and I was discharged the next morning without postoperative restrictions. Postoperatively, I was prescribed aspirin and plavix for the next three months. Relative to my Class 3, which I assume can't be revoked if Basic Med is to remain valid, what's the FAA's guidance on plavix? If I'm taking that anti-platelet drug prophylactically for the stent, is this something I need to run by my AME?
