Plane + Pilot - Big Changes

So the new p plus p lady sent out an email saying there’s no AI, there’s a new podcast, and some other stuff.

Check your email, must have gone to every past customer. Actually I subscribed so long ago maybe they bought an email list.

After skiing for a few decades, I didn't think a helmet was necessary, until I hit a patch of shaded ice, which resulted in a toboggan and ambulance ride, a concussion, and a couple days of befuddlement.

When I recovered the ability to think straight again, I reconsidered my position on the subject.

Much like motorcycling, if you don’t think your brain is worth protecting with a helmet, you’re correct.

A TBM at the very least. But if you are not David Mamet, how do you know what his fee was and the reason that Flying discontinued his column?

I see—you’re an insider. Well, you know.

I could easily see that happen at The Atlantic. And I could see a new editor jettison a relatively expensive contributor in the interest of cost-cutting. But it seems quite odd that a magazine like Flying would drop a writer of Mamet’s caliber because the editor took issue with political viewpoints expressed elsewhere.

It’s really getting difficult to find refuge from other people’s politics. No soup for you, you new editor of Flying.

It may seem "odd" but it's depressingly common nowadays. People are getting "cancelled" due to offhand comments they made when students 30 years ago.

Yep. People want sanitized honesty.

They want to hear what someone has to say about a topic that interests them. But if they hear something completely unrelated they don't agree with. Pitchforks.

Stay off the twitter machine kids.
