Good morning all. We currently have some weird droopy wingtips (like below) on our Warrior and we're thinking about installing a new pair of some sort. Here are the two types we're looking at:

- https://www.wagaero.com/aerodynamic-fiberglass-wingtips-cherokee-tapered-wing-faa-pma.html

Big price difference between the two. Got in a discussion the other day with a mechanic and he says the droopy ones make quite a difference in flight characteristics, etc. He said..."Leave em' on".

Does anyone out there have any of two pre-mentioned tips on their bird? Thoughts? Thanks a lot for your input.

Are these the Madras tips? In other words, you don’t like the look and that’s the only reason? Do your research on the various types of wingtips and why the previous owners installed these. Number of Piper owner groups, various Facebook forums and what the benefits/disadvantages are. Personally, I had the Knots2U installed.

Is there a reason you want to change? Droop tips generally result in better slow-speed handling and lower stall speed and therefore shorter takeoff and landing distances.

Are yours old and cracked and in need of replacement, or is it just a cosmetic thing?

Yes, thanks! Don't like the look of the tips and the new Whalen lights we bought don't fit on the Madras very well.

If/when you replace the droopy tips, you might want to consider gap seals to somewhat compensate for the degraded slow-speed handling.

Or you may want to return the Whelens and find something that will fit. Might want to contact the Madras wingtip manufacturers.

Thanks for the tip. I don't think the people who made the Madras tips are in business anymore but I'll definitely look into the gap seals
