So I was looking through some old photos tonight and found this photo. My dad is in the left seat, my uncle, a CFI/-I in the right seat, and my mom and little me in the back. But then I noticed there's a strange looking tube-like object that seems to be protruding from the pilot side window. Anybody know what that is?

(This was my grandfather's plane at the time, and by all accounts, this was my first GA flight from KLXT to KTQE.)

Whiskey whiskey.....how'd you know I like a double?

Fresh air tube when you have carbon monoxide poisoning inside you breath thru the tube.

But yes I think OAT makes the most sense, manual thermometer.

Don't know why we keep broken things. But here ya go. OAT probe. IMG_20250310_194501891.jpg

Because we're saving them up to build an airplane on which every single thing is broken so that we can drag it over to the maintenance shop on April Fools and make their day for a minute.

Right? That IS why we do it, right?

Or is it because we're gonna fix them ourselves for the next time 'cuz you can't throw something that danged expensive away even if it is broken.

N110WW appears to be well kept and still flying in its original paint. The last flight on FlightAware was in February.

I've kept a close eye on it over the years. The guy my grandfather sold it to passed away 2-3 years ago, and I kept waiting for it to pop up for sale, but it sold locally. If it ever does hit the market, I'll be looking for it!

What I would really like is to be able to offer the guy his BFR in it, just for the opportunity for me to log time in it.

I have the same thing sticking out of my windshield on my single engine Comanche. That's the thing I look at to determine if I need a jacket when opening the door.
