Tied Down
RECOMMENDATIONS / QUICK START: Detailed instructions and screenshots are further down in this post.
SIGNATURE: Turn off the default automatic signature in Tapatalk and create a signature on the website directly via a web browser.
USERNAME / LOGIN: PoA recommends the use of direct login instead of logging into a Tapatalk account with no stored PoA login information. We cannot recover a lost Tapatalk username or password for you.
IMAGES: It is recommended to set Tapatalk to upload images directly to the PoA server and not to the Tapatalk servers.
EXTENDED INFORMATION / DISCUSSION: USERNAME / LOGIN: PoA recommends the use of direct login instead of logging into a Tapatalk account with no stored PoA login information. We cannot recover a lost Tapatalk username or password for you.
IMAGES: It is recommended to set Tapatalk to upload images directly to the PoA server and not to the Tapatalk servers.
PoA has made the Tapatalk mobile device interface available for use by the members of the forum. We have tried to keep Tapatalk integration as unobtrusive as possible for our web users, including turning off the built-in advertisements for Tapatalk that pop-up on many forum sites, when mobile web client users navigate to PoA.
- Many PoA members use Tapatalk for browsing this and other forums, and enjoy the software.
- However, there are some Tapatalk settings that can bother other forum members, which are controlled on the user’s copy of Tapatalk, and PoA has no direct control of them.
Signatures:By far, automatic Tapatalk signatures are the number one complaint of forums that allow Tapatalk use.
- Tapatalk inserts a default signature into every post you make, unless you turn it off. It’s an advertisement for Tapatalk, by default.
- You will not see this signature line added to your post on the mobile device, but everyone else will see it. Some members find these highly annoying.
- If a signature is desired, we recommend using a web browser to create a signature directly in the forum software. Everyone EXCEPT Tapatalk users will see this signature.
Username and Password / Login:
Tapatalk allows you to sign up for a user ID and password for Tapatalk itself*, which also can be used to store logins for the forums you use in Tapatalk.
- PoA recommends all regular users of PoA, set their preferences for login in Tapatalk to log into PoA directly, mainly so other features of the forum software work properly for all users.
Images:
Tapatalk allows users to upload image files to Tapatalk’s servers, or directly to forums. If someday, Tapatalk were to “disappear” from the Net, all images hosted at their servers would be lost in older posts. PoA recommends setting your Tapatalk client to upload images directly to the PoA server for this reason.
Tapatalk as of the time of this writing, also allows you to choose between three sizes of image when uploading.
- Testing seems to indicate that the majority of PoA users find the mid-sized image to look the best on the web, unless high resolution detail is needed.
- Then, the largest image size possible can be utilized.
- The small image size is highly compressed and should only be used for the simplest of images.
These will often extend off the edges of other member’s screens, depending on their particular computer setup.
Polls:
In cases where a thread is also attached to a voting box/poll, Tapatalk is unaware of these and will not show them.
"VIP Status" and other Tapatalk Features, Offers and in-App Advertising: Inside the Taptalk application there are features like "VIP Status", which will remove advertising from the Tapatalk App on your mobile device.
These are NOT features of Pilots of America or statuses here, they are offered, maintained, and all technical support on them is done directly with Tapatalk.
- Pilots of America accepts no responsibility or liability from features that aren't working, billing issues, or any other functionality of the Tapatalk software.
- All problems with Tapatalk software are between the end-user of their Application and Tapatalk.
- Integrations within Tapatalk with other Social Media services for logins, posting, links, etc. are also not the responsibility of Pilots of America.
It is highly recommended that Tapatalk users take a few minutes with both the Tapatalk client available and a web browser available, and use both to view a common thread, individual posts, and other screens, to see how the user interface differs.- Keep these differences in mind when posting from Tapatalk. What you think it looked like may not be what it actually looked like.
- You can always click on "Web View" in Tapatalk to see the thread in your mobile browser.
