Pie

My wife took one of the smaller pumpkins from Halloween and converted it into a pumpkin pie. First time I've ever had pumpkin pie that was made from a pumpkin, and not the canned stuff.

Fantastic! We used Redi-Whip from the cans. I think that's real whipped cream.

Not peddling any particular brand, but Ready Whip brand is my second choice for canned whipped. At the moment though, I can't remember the other stuff.
But if you want a real treat, try properly made "Devonshire Cream". The first couple of time I made it, it was just a nice thick liquid; and preferred by my guests. Then I actually read the instructions and hand beat the mix to peaks. Either way will swear you off the Ready Whip.

You mean to tell me that there are OTHER pies besides APPLE?

No way!

Every year my daughter makes me a pumpkin pie from pumpkins and a cherry pie from fresh cherries (from Chile where they are in season now). It's the kind of food that George Washington ate. There is no store-bought equivalent.

I warned that second slice of homemade pumpkin not to get on my plate, but it didn't listen.

One of the reasons I love living where I do. Apples, peaches, 'cots, Bosc and Asian pears; Rainier, Chelan & Sweetheart cherries, rhubarb, raspberries, plums, and lots of veggies. Fresh from my garden......
I think I'm gonna make some pie this afternoon. Made from acorn and carnival squash. Tastes just like pumpkin when I'm done.

Ice cream on pie is better. And ice cream on a warm cinnamon bun, now.......mmmmmm. Burp.
