I know some of you (Elizabeth:rolleyes:) have been waiting for the New Zealand photos from our
recent trip there and our AWESOME stay at Flyinn
(http://www.flyinn.co.nz). Well they're now available on the web at
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/, though I haven't yet done
small thumbnails of them or done any user interface. That's still to
come. A word of warning. Though I've categorized them by place and
deleted quite a few, there are still almost a thousand high-res
pictures. These are not edited at all; I'll probably be doing cropping,
editing, etc for the next year :^) They are generally between 500Kb
and 900Kb each. I'll drop another note when I have thumbnails and a
narrative available.

If you want to see them in roughly chronological order, go through the
directories in this order:

http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/ForestField/ - aviation day, ride in a Harvard (AT-6)
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/Queenstown/ - Arriving in Queenstown, where we started the Flyinn portion of the trip
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/Wanaka/ - checkout on airplane
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/FlyinnHome/ - where we're staying, with some nice sunset shots
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/MtAspiring/ - awesome
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/BigBayBeach/ - landing on a beach
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/MilfordSound/ - flying down a fiord
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/Fiordland/ - flying over a bunch of fiords
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/TeAnau/ -on way back home to Flyinn
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/MtCook/ - landing on a glacier
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/Dingleburn/ - landing on a farmer's field. Like the windsock?
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/Mandeville/ - airplane restoration
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/StewartIsland/ - nature walk. Ferns.
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/Balclutha/ - up the coast. Lighthouse shots
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/Glenorchy_DartRiver/ - jet boating in Lord of the Rings territory
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/Dunedin/ - shopping trip
http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/NewZealand/ChristchurchAirport/ - Air New Zealand gave us a gate

cool Grant!! than you for posting them.

keep us posted - you're right, they are HUGE! I started to look at some and it took a while. I put my photos on www.worldisround.com - it makes thumbnails which are good for scanning.

I'll have a look at yours soon. I still haven't had a chance to thumbnail mine, though I've started writing a travel missive. The weekend after we got back from New Zealand, we flew up to Mackinac Island for the weekend, then Leslie and I participated in the Ninety-Nines Chicago chapter air rally, where she took top novice pilot honors, and now we're in Scottsdale for a few days. No break from vacation

permanent vacation sounds good to me.

I have not posted my photos yet, still going through them. maybe this weekend.

That's why I couldn't find them.....

Perm. vacation would be OK if one had enough money to enjoy the travel. Maybe I should write a travel book with pictures.

Hey, I've finally updated the site with thumbnails, a picture viewer, and some narrative! Some of the pictures are stunning, but it's because of the incomparable scenery, certainly not my photographic talents. See http://www.prellwitz.org/pics/vacation/NZ for more.

Awsome pics. One of the few places I have not been. I was invited by the New Zealand government to attend a conference there a coupl of years ago but had to decline due to scheduling commitments. Too bad for me, the governemtn sponsered a weekend whitewater rafting trip and wine tasting for the delegates.

I had CISPR meetings in Christchurch in 2002. You missed a beautiful country. My wife went sightseeing on the south island while I was in meetings. We spent a couple days sightseeing on the north island on the way home. I want to go back.

Christchurch! Yes, we flew into Christchurch. Here's a picture of our 172 at gate 25 of Christchurch Int'l. The gate personnel said "Where did you guys come from?" as we walked in:goofy:! We had called up Air New Zealand via cell-phone while flying up, and they had granted us permission, so we didn't need to traipse across the field from the GA side.

It's beautiful, the weather is good, and the people are friendly. And there are a lot of sheep! It's a wonderful place, no doubt about it. (BTW, if you want to fly there, check out www.flyinn.com. You can meet up with them at just about every AirVenture, too!)
