Petty Insurance Rant

Oh, geez....it's not easy in most states, but Texas one of the worst for consumer driven care. The politicians want you to use the power of the market, but then make the market as transparent as lead.

In the end I will just pay whatever it costs to not hurt but I will have no idea how they arrive at that number.

Oh I definitely agree with KyleB....when my daughter was born, we paid three separate times for the anesthetist...one to the hospital for the drugs, one to the anesthetist himself and one to the office that the anesthetist works out of...freaking ridiculous...i figured it out by the hourly wage based upon how much we paid....he was making like $26,000/hr....

That's what your insurance company is for. And if you see stuff that doesn't make sense, like the in and out of network stuff, ask them about it. If you did not specify a specialist to read the films, they may have some questions for the provider.

The customer being in he dark is what they count on. Nobody asks to see a price list on the way into the ER.

That may be right. My next door neighbor is an anesthesiologist and owns 2 jets. I understand there is a lot of liability in that gig and they are well compensated for it.

Yep, you don't want to get on the Anesthesiologist Black List either. When you get listed for stiffing, they paralyze you and leave you awake for your next surgery...:rofl:

I am going to pretend it is rumor but I have a friend that works in the ER and he claims to know a guy that was being an over the top prick and they gave the paralytic drug and intibated him without giving him a general.

My ex's dad admitted to mistakenly doing so, he was amazed he didn't get sued but all the guy had to say to him was "Bloody surgeon's rough as guts."
