im removing my upholstery and going to paint interior. There are numerous small screw holes for holding the door upholstery piece on... would a dab of job weld then sanded down do a good job patching em? Or should I just put the screws back in?

just put the screws back in?
When we would prep a helicopter for work, we removed all the plastic trim and installed shorter machine screws. Back then we would rotate aircraft out every 5 years and would pull the old(new) trim from storage and reinstall in aircraft to trade in or sell out right. YMMV but if you plan to save the trim, may want to save the way to reinstall it.

You can always re-drill the scotch weld.
