Please delete if this is not allowed. I would like to ask and see if anyone here has gone to the fsdo or used a DPE to process their part 107 remote pilot certificate?

Just looking for the proper steps after completing the iacra form.

Thank you!

I did, but it was at 10 AM on the first day that the license became a thing more than a decade ago. (Edit: I looked at my card. 29 August 2016, so less than a decade ago.) I honestly don't remember how it went. I do remember it being really easy.

Here's a step-by-step guide. Quick online course, begin the IACRA application, and then have any CFI confirm your identity and complete the IACRA application. In a few weeks, you'll receive a plastic card that looks like a cheap forgery of an FAA pilot certificate, with simplified graphics and no photo of Orville and Wilbur.

I had to go look at mine to verify that the brothers were not on there!

I love how it looks like it came out of a box of Cracker Jacks. "Yes, sweetie... you're a real pilot."

No need to bother FSDO or a DPE... the DPE may charge a fee.
Any CFI can do it.

Why would a CFI not charge?

FSDO would be the cheapest, as they are public servants and do it for free IF you can get them to work

As a CFI unless you’re known to me it’s going to be $50 or a beer or something

I did mine at the FSDO, easy peasy.

Do you have a job to actually use that Part 107? Seems like there's not all that much demand for it. I've never had any need for it (took the part 107 test prior to the private cert - mostly a subset of the private written. My employer at the time paid the fee for it.)

Same question here. I did mine cause it was super easy, but no idea what to do with it. Always a good conversation starter when jumpseating though

One of my brothers got his part 107 about 5 years ago, and he’s been working behind the cameras in movies and TV for the last 25 years. His part 107 is a lucrative tool to pull out when drone filming is required. DGA rates.

My son got his part 107 when he was in high school. After he joined CAP, he was the first mission-qualified Cadet for drone SAR in our state. It was a good primer for him prior to USAFA, where he went on to get his private in the flying club, then got his multi in our 310 during one of his short summer breaks. Now he’s a LT at Vance AFB flying T1s.

I’d say the part 107 was a good contributor to both of their successes.
