A friend may fly to Milwaukee, rent a car and drive up to Oshkosh this year and camp with us at the plane. The EAA website says no overnight parking in EAA lots. Any ideas where one can park a car overnight if you're not parking it at your Schoeller campsite?

We did this in 2015. We were camped in North 40 and there was a lot by warbirds camping iirc. Don’t know if the policy changed...

Find a residential neighborhood with a fix mix of cars on the street, park there, and take Uber to the campsite.

I bet he could park it at one of the several privately-owned houses with yards/parking lots along the main road. Might be an additional fee, but you could ask the landowner.

Park in one of the farm lots across from the Red Barn, then shuttle over to the North 40. Only $10 or so, if that.

Big old closed strip mall across the street from the airport. Possibly no one would mind.

The EAA website does not provide all the answers to all the questions. I've had a field pass for a car. Your friends must request the car pass, not you. It may have changed in the past few years.

If he's flying in to Milwaukee, just take the bus to Osh. It drops at the FBO and he can take the regular shuttles to your camp site.

Likely he'll save some money for brats and beers, too!

This.

However, if he insists on renting and driving, the place to park is the Orange Lot on Foundation Rd just south of the drive-in gate to the North 40. If he gets there prior to the show, he *may* be given permission to drive the car out to your plane long enough to drop stuff off. Once the show starts (Monday) that's a no-go.

Hope this helps.

Great idea. Didn’t even know this was a thing.

Check the bus schedules! I was going to do this a few years ago....didn't work due to airline vs bus schedules.
