Attention: Due to the Storm that passed through Oklahoma in May, the plane has received hail damage and is having the rigging inspected and repaired as required. Its getting:

Ailerons reskinned
Stabilator reskinned
Flaps reskinned
Relieve and fill all dents (wings, fuselage and upper cowling)

Will have 90% new paint.

Over 20K in repairs are in process!

If your interested we can get the pinstripe painted your preferred color, but since there has been little interest its planned to get striped a shade of Green to my liking.

Again, all these repairs are being professionally repaired and will be documented as such. Please call or PM for additional questions. Feel free to stop by and check it out if your in the North Texas area.

What engine shop did the prop strike inspection?

I'll need to look at the logs to be 100% sure, I looked at them a few weeks ago to verify what was done and I just cant remember the name of the shop. I will get on that, I'm at work so it will be next week before I can get to the logs.

I may just not be seeing it, but I can't find the year of manufacture.

Called previous mechanic to get the info.

Gregg Downing of Center line Aviation in Guymon Oklahoma repaired the prop strike.

Entertaining offers, would like to know if I have it listed at a reasonable price?

First reasonable offer takes it! I gotta sell before I can buy!

Yeah, hurry up and get it sold so you can come get my plane.

You tryin' to put him in that fork tailed doctor killer of yours? What are you going to replace it with?

Looking amphib. I got a little spot on a lake, so maybe I'll get me a -- Lake! :D

Mebee I'll build an STC for pontoons fitted to a Bonanza. Big seller.

Is this deja vu all over again?

I got spring/cabin/amphib fever.

Ya know, every April we open the lake house, and it's so darn refreshing, and quiet, and catch a bass, take a little dip, and listen to some Brahms, and don't worry about anything for a while. I got the ramp sitting there, and a big patch of grass to park, and I would rather do a 50 min flight than a 3 hour drive each way.

Actually, I'm just shamelessly bumping the guys thread so it'll get some hits.

I'm in the same situation, but my lake house is 8 hours (by 172) or 24 hours (by car) away. Every July we open the lake house, and it's so darn refreshing and quiet, and catch a Northern or Walleye, take a little dip, and listen to some Coltrane, and don't worry about anything for 3 weeks. Then every July we close the lake house and come back to DC.

I need to hurry up and retire. Then I won't care if it's a 8 hour plane ride.

(I'm really just helping with the bumping. :))

Appreciated :goofy:

A few trades offered but no cash offers. You probably wont hurt my feelings with a offer ;)

Just curious...why no CS prop?

On the 28-235 the O-540 downrating is accomplished by limiting the fixed-pitch prop to 2400rpm (it's normally a 250-300ho engine).
So it's already a quiet and smooth, low RPM aircraft, and at max cruise you're like 2200 rpm.

The better question would by why people demanded a CS prop on a plane that really doesn't need it.

Who made 'low RPM' the omnipresent value metric of engine choice of operation? I prefer choices. Other than that you're right, what that airplane needed was a fuselage extension and modern CFD-validated wheel pants, not a 6 cylinder engine but I digress.

On an engine that big you're leaving a lot of money on the table by restricting it to a fixed pitch prop. Why would you want a CS prop on that thing? 100% power on takeoff, much better climb rate and the ability to increase service ceiling (and thus cruise airspeed/gas economy). Choices are a good thing to have, especially if you're gonna pay for gas on 6 jugs.

A constant speed prop is not swing gear, if cost is what we're fixating on. Reseal it as required, keep it 2-blade (aesthetics expenditures are stupid) then 'on condition' and off you go. It truly is a thing of beauty.

At any rate, didn't mean to derail the thread. Im sure a FP 235 will fill someone's mission desires. As long as it's priced for the market, it should move.

Interesting. All later -235s (including mine) have constant speed props. We take off at 2650 (well, really 2700) RPM.

Are you saying we're developing more than 235 HP at that RPM?

It's not as simple as you're trying to make it sound. There are more O-540 variants than Carter has pills.

Probably because the C-182 has one, and the 1960s Piper salesmen needed one to close sales. They needed cowl flaps, too, but they never got those, did they?

Auto fuel STC -- most planes with that have smaller engines. I wonder if there's any faster certified plane than this one that runs on auto fuel.

There's no relationship between engine displacement and auto fuel STCs.

Yes, the E series Bo is rated for auto fuel. Some early Debs with the O-470 are rated. The C-195 is as well. I think the big Franklin in the Seabee is also rated.

Well, shoot, now you have started a fight between me and my copilot wife. She thinks it maxes out at 2500 RPM at full power. I say 2650.

We've been flying this plane every few days for over eleven years. You would thing this is something we could agree on, but nooooo.

So, next time we fly I shall check. lol

Top of the RPM scale (aka: red line) on our tach is 2550 RPM. Thankfully this makes both Mary and me wrong, so life can go on.
