We leave for the kids to over night sunday and monday, then we are back for 2 days before we head over to the east side for the holiday weekend, then we back on the third to reload/replenish for the trip to hang Leo's engine in Alameda. We will probably be camped in the Alameda county fair grounds in Pleasanton Ca. some time after the 9th.

We'll be back when we see ya :)

Pleasanton is close to me, but I will be PA at that time for business. You could probably do a day trip to the Reno Air races (maybe an overnight). It is probably a 3 hour drive from there.

C-ya in a couple weeks ---- maybe.. :)

You will not be too far from me, Pleasanton is 1-3 hours from me (depending on traffic) but after the 9th you say? I'm leaving on the 10th to drive up to Reno so it sounds like I will miss you entirely. Have fun.

It's a busman's holiday we'll be working while we are there.

then maybe San-Simion and a couple other sights.

We leave here tomorrow to over night at the hangar, load the engine and leave there Thursday for Olympia, to do an annual, and then a drive down I-5.

Borrow a spare set of knees if you take the Hearst tours. Mine still hurt from February.

In Spite of the Gestapo tactics of the Port of Oakland. We got Leo's engine on and running, we decided to head north Via 880 - 80 East - 505 North - I-5 north to Weed and then 97 north to Crater Lake, for the night in the park, then 97 to Leavenworth Wa. where we'll spend the last night on the road.

We enjoyed the drive around the lake. but was disappointed with their camp grounds, too close together, and no hookups. and expensive.

Heck, when on the motorcycle I just camp at a cemetery, church yard, or any other hunk of land that's reasonably private and easily reached. Now that I'm a pilot I might even try airports. Can't remember the last time I paid fro camping outside Oshkosh.

Try getting one of these in any where that wasn't designed for them.
Walmart parking lot is the only free place that works.

Hey, some of us don't need all our junk when we camp. Tent roll and bag do it for me. I'll throw in a chair if I want to be luxurious.

Show me how the carry an aircraft engine, all the tools to install it, stay a week at an airport, or take all the toys with you on a M/C.

When I only had a Sporster we did a lot of weekends camping out of a back pack mounted on a sissy bar. But a family out grows that pretty quick.

Says you. If I'm on holiday I don't schlep an aircraft engine or much of anything else. Not how I roll. I do carry enough tools to fix most motorcycle consternation, but that really isn't so many.
