I miss the days when I just watched TV shows and movies, enjoyed them on their own merit, and had absolutely no idea about the personal lives or opinions of any of the actors.

While Master and Slave Hard Drives aren't common any more. The SPI, Serial Peripheral Interface, bus still uses MOSI for Master Out, Slave In, and MISO for the other wire. Seems the Master and Slave naming is still fairly common there.

I suggest you are ignoring reality. What happened to the Dixie Chicks when they expressed an opinion counter to that held by their fans?

See the example above. There are other examples, I’m sure, but I don’t follow entertainers, nor what they say. They are good for entertainment, but like most people, don’t know much beyond their own work and social circle.

Am I the only one who, when I see “IBTL,” hears, “I, beetle” in my mind’s ear?

I did always hear “in before thread lock”. Now I’m going to hear “I beetle” for the rest of my life. Thanks for that. :D

I suppose anyone can find evidence to support their opinion if they try hard enough. I’ve seen it from both sides quite clearly to know it’s not just a theory, but I’ll leave it at that.

    Here's the point under discussion:
If you've seen it from both sides, and you know it isn't just a theory, then why this remark in response to that post?
I'll accept that you typed in haste.

What rock are you hiding under? Evidence, we don’t need no stinkin evidence. Alternative facts and alternative realities are all one needs and they are every bit as good and valid as facts and evidence. And if you repeat them long enough and loud enough, it might just become reality for many. Nothing really new in this - look at the rise of Hilter in Germany in the 1930’s or Stalin in the Soviet Union in the same period. Sheesh - why else do 1,000’s take a horse dewormer instead of an FDA approved vaccine or refuse a vaccine because it has a microchip tracker while carrying a cell phone and other electronics that can be easily tracked including your car. There is a reason the Flat Earth Society is growing.

Try hard??? It’s so easy to confirm your bias nowadays. Pick the channel, paper, website, social media forum, etc of your choice. You can get the proof you desire in a couple clicks.

It's a shame, too, because it would be so easy to use Stalin or Mao instead to make the same hackneyed point without incurring a Godwin vio.

On the positive side, no one has quoted "First they came" (yet).

And now they are just The Chicks, because Dixie is offensive.

I’m sure someone will call them out because Chicks is sexist, so then what are they going to call themselves?

No point. Just that Godwin's law is alive and well.

Well, sort of one point; you need to proofread before anger-punching the "reply" button. You keep misspelling things.

Looking it up in the Ernest Borgnine dictionary, the band should be renamed "The Southern Broads."
