Throwing a bit more smoke around this....
I looked in my January 2018 copy of the FAA registry, and saw only three Fly Babies registered in Oregon. The owners' addresses are quite far away from Grants Pass...hundreds of miles.
One of our Fly Baby crew, however, reports looking at a project ("well along") near Grants Pass. The news reports say the pilot didn't have a license. Could it be possible the AIRPLANE itself wasn't registered? None of the reports have included an N-number or photo of the plane.
