who live in Nanning China. At EWR now and boarding UAL for the loooonnnnggg flight to HKG where we will spend the night before flying to Nanning in the morning. So happy that the missus sprung for economy plus rather than regular economy. It also good that she is a tiny thing and doesn't mind riding with the armrest up. My fat American ass needs the extra room. :)
 
It looks like you will fly over the Arctic ocean, if your route is a great circle.
 
Safe travels! And my all means, make sure you don't say anything about being a doctor if they're looking for "volunteers" to give up a seat... :p

Lol. They actually were overbooked and asked for two volunteers to take a different flight for $800 each. Wife said no. Probably due to it being a later flight with a stop in Paris.

Just got to the hotel and I am fried. Stayed awake for most of the flight to adjust. Good thing is that it is bedtime over here and I normally handle these trips fairly well. Will know more in the am.
 
Well, good luck, but there is no way in Hell I'd do economy-anything from EWR-HKG.

Back in the days when I was taking quarterly Far East trips (and I was at least 30# lighter) on a 74 in First for 14 hours from DTW to NRT, I thought that sucked...

Here here! I paid out of pocket to upgrade to Biz class when I had to travel for work from LA to India. There was no freaking way I was spending 21 hours travelling in an economy seat.

I did that with miles on what turned out to be my final trip. Worth every cent.
 
Well after a couple days visiting family and friends in Nanning, we flew up to Xi'an. We went to the terra-cotta warrior site and some museums. Also visited the Muslim sector of town. Ate all sorts of good food. All in all a fun trip so far. Will be in Xi'an for another day before flying back to Nanning.

That's next on the agenda. It's too hot for me but the wife insists on doing it. In fact we are heading that way now.
 
Well, last night in China. Back to the USA in the morning. It's been a fun trip but it will be good to get home. Her parents are coming back with us for a month. Not sure how that will go.
