Been reading conflicting reports on claiming the overtime tax exempt. The 121 & 135 pilots fall under the RLA and not the FSLA but some companies pay still pay overtime as a matter of policy. Can that be deducted on taxes if you are below the income threshold?

On the fixed wing side of the GMR house, we got an email stating OT was deductible on your Federal return up to a certain level. But as usual, the email cautioned to check with your tax advisor.

To qualify, the overtime must have been required to be paid under the FSLA (i.e. over 40 hours in a week). I don't know of any 135 or 121 jobs that would qualify.

Didn’t get that email on the rotor side but we did a “co-pilot” search at work and it said we can claim the tax exemption. It specifically stated we’re under FSLA so I guess it’s allowed. Just confusing though because I’ve read conflicting things on what we fall under (FSLA vs RLA). No one seems to know.
