O boy......

Have a safe flight home & congratulations. My first airplane was a brand new 1974 Warrior. I think it was one of the first ones sold here in the northwest. I was 18 at the time but my father was doing well in the cattle business at the time so I talked him into buying it. Lots of great memories.

I still have a soft spot for PA-28s.

Flightaware still has them at KCOE since Thursday afternoon. Guess they didn't file IFR for the rest of the flight.

I saw that, though he said they filed all day yesterday. So not sure where they are now or how far they actually made it yesterday.

We flew VFR the rest of the way, leg 2 was mostly pilotage with GPS as backup and hand flying for 4 hrs to billings , leg 3 was half pilotage , then pretty much magenta line on AP after sunset to Bismark , same with leg 4 to fargo

When you've done 1200 nm in a Cherokee you KNOW you've been on a cross country.

Well done! Tell us how it's changed your perspective of flying small airplanes.

Debrief coming this weekend.

Loving the low wing... something about sitting on the wing vs hanging from one.. all in my head I guess, nonetheless loving it. Steep turns check, ground reference maneuvers check, stalls.. LOVE the stalls or the lack there of , love when the AOA indicator calls out slow speed.

4.2 hrs since yesterday with my CFI, landings were crappy yesterday with 19g27, did 8 landings today in 5 kts, 1 baloon, rest were as good as they get for pre-solo. still looking close to the nose and need to get her lined up with the centerline...getring there. Sight picture different. Love how archer handles x wind with minimum fuss, I think it handles turbulence much better too, but that may be my bias.. CFI said I fly better in the low wing .

Did I say am loving it? There she is, at her home base.

A fantastic first plane (I started with a 160 and moved up to a 180 when I could afford it). You should set a goal to fly it to Oshkosh in July and camp out.

Looks better with the wheel pants on.
Glad to hear you are having fun. You'll have lots of bugs to clean off that thing where you are as the weather warms up. :D

Yah, am gathering my car cleaning supplies and moving some to the hangar tomorrow. It's going to take a long time to hand wash her.

July might not happen. Annual scheduled in June, estimated 3 weeks with a 830 install .... and the big check that i have to write

What a trip!
Thank God we've landed....my back hurts today.

Nope, not in your head. It was me. :D

Haha, but seriously, everything you said about how it flies, is what I noticed after one flight in a Cherokee.
I been eyeballing Archers for months. That's a great bird...You killed it man. Well done.

One of the reasons it handles better in turb is the low wing (let's not get started on the relgious discussion again). You are sitting just ahead and on top of the spar instead of hanging under it. So when the wings rock on a low wing, you're rocking along the longitudinal axis instead of swinging under the wing.

Did u just say low wing is better?

The FAA should regulate that high wing airplanes are restricted to training, aerial photography and floats. Period. :D

Ah, but wait. Aren't your inner ears (i.e. the parts of your body that sense balance) closer to the spar in a high wing than in a low wing?

Nice!!! Congratulations  and welcome to the world of ownership. Enjoy and fly safe!!!:happydance:

Just remember the 5 forces of flight: lift, drag, weight, thrust and money. Take any one of the forces away, no flying.

Haha...yes, and may the forces be with you.

Especially the 5th one.
It will help you through times of no flight - plane down for annual, overhaul, weather, etc... by providing alternate activities - strip clubs, girls, booze, gambling..
Which also by the way, cause - lift, drag, weight, and thrust.

Congrats again! And great to hear that the low wing agrees with you! I think high wing aircraft are easier for ingress/egress, but I love the look of a low wing (by my avatar probably gave that away.)

I think I (and many others) can empathize with you regarding annual costs. But in the end, it's YOUR plane, so hopefully the sting of the fee won't be so bad. And I'm envious that you have a hangar for your beauty. No hangars available in my area, so my aircraft gets to live outside.
