Everything Offends Me
I got my new phone (MY phone, not a test phone) today. Its the T-Mobile Wing, which is essentially the HTC P3350, and its my first "PDA/Smartphone."

It runs on Windows Mobile 6, which so far, I think is awesome. It connects to the internet using internet explorer, and when I'm near a router, I can steal the bandwidth off the router and get quick internet....unfortunately, T-Mobile's internet (either GPRS or EDGE) is SLOOOOOOOOOW, compared to Sprint's (which I'm used to). But when I'm near a router, its all good.

I can sync it to my computer daily, it manages my email for me, and SMS and Voice Calls work great too. I love it.

Forgot the most important part: Anyone who has my phone number needs to change it if you want to maintain contact with me. It is now (and this is my personal number, not the test phone).... (Fife oh Fife) Six One Zero - Zero Niner Seven Eight.

I have the HTC Hermes-whatever (I haven't figured out the secret HTC decoder yet) AT&T 8525.
http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/8525/?_requestid=33619

It runs Windows Mobile 5, but I *think* I'm seeing that an upgrade may be possible. Yep! http://www.america.htc.com/products/8525/default.html

To really enjoy it, point IE to http://mobile.google.com and download Google Map application for Windows Mobile. Watch how it just offers to install. Then be amazed how fast the maps can update....oooohhhh...I have 3G. Heh. It should still work pretty good in EDGE. It has the map and sat view and LIVE TRAFFIC where available. It's the same as what the iPhone guys brag about,...only again, I have 3G!

Then go to http://www.opera.com and install a much better free browser.

I just got an HTC Mogul (aka PPC 7800), also WM6, and have an unlimited data plan from Sprint, which has so far offered up reasonable EVDO coverage around these here parts, but I haven't been traveling out of town with it yet.

I'm still in the honeymoon phase, but am very happy so far. I'm a computer geek, and the ability to 'ssh' into my Linux-based network at home via my cell phone changes the color of the sky in my world, just a little bit.

It's a shame it doesn't come with GPS support built-in, though, that would open up a whole new world of potential uses.

The downside is that I need to get used to having to plug in the phone pretty much every night, maybe every other night at best.

Yeah. Unfortunately my Nuvi doesn't do a GPS link over Bluetooth. Unless somebody stops me I may spring for a ~$150 black box GPS with bluetooh like the Garmin or Pharos. What I definitely do not need is one more box to keep track of. *sigh*

How about this one, commonly found in Detroit, New York and New Jersey. :D

Nice phone, and WM6 to boot. Now you need a few toys with it. Try PPCGEEKS.COM.
My first (and still) is a XV6700 or the HTC APACHE. WM5. Most of which I use for a phone and not windows. My favorite app is Missile Command.

What is the Blackberry integration like?

What is the Blackberry integration like?

If you meant push email compatibility with Exchange email, it has it, but AFAIK, it requires running compatible stuff on the server side.

Mine DID ask me if I wanted to link the email and for the server address. I think if the Exchange server has an outside web interface that's all it takes.

Of course, I didn't get mine at the office to work. I could ask the email gods to help but but I wouldn't have much hope. They're probably runnign it themselves though.

Its a Windows Mobile Device, not Blackberry, but I have it set up to use my work's exchange pusher, and it works beautifully.

For you wing and 8125 guys, how is the Java functionality? Can you point your browser at websites such as Google calendar have them work correctly?

It works pretty good. I have nothing to compare it to, but it seems to work.

Heh. You can also add the Google YouTube app at http://m.youtube.com/

I get the impression that when Google worked with Apple on the iPhone apps - however much they had to - they had the good sense to not agree to make them exclusive to the iPhone.

My 8525 already has an AT&T video application which works pretty well on... OK I won't say it again.

I got this Krushell case for my 8525 along with a lot of the other clips and mounts. It exceeded my expectations. The whole setup performed well through Oshkosh and all of the hauling around.

I was most concerned with my belly snapping the phone off of my belt as has happened to me with every other belt clip. This one locks and stays locked.

I can clip it on mounts in the car. Way cool.

I corrected the above. Mine is an AT&T 8525 which is the one that has 3G and a faster CPU, is Windows Mobile 5 and will upgarde to Windows Mobile 6.

I have an 8125 which I'll be eBaying if anybody is interested.

Nick, I was gonna tell you that I bought a 2GB Mini-SD card for my HTC phone from Buy.com for $15.99 after rebate. Just got it. It works. When you plug it in the camera app asks if you want to move the pictures to it. B)

Unfortunately the rebate is over.

but they have a Kingston now for $22.95:

BAH, too bad, I need a card (31MB goes really quickly :D)

But, I am pretty sure I can get a decent deal somewhere. Since I have a $50 target gift card, I might even be able to score one for "free."
