Now THIS is a grill...

Nice, put that with the party bar and off we go.

Is it just me? :dunno: The plane is the grill, and the hamburgers are passengers?

dtuuri

But if we complain about the food being overcooked, does this mean we're in trouble with Homeland Cookcurity and will be escorted from the picnic area?

Sounds to me like the in-house Delta people involved could do well by tendering their resignations and stating a specialty grill fabrication business, complete with associated reality TV show (see Treehouse Masters; that one about cake guy in Baltimore; the ice carvers; the pool and aquarium guys...)

I have felt like those hamburgers when waiting on the tarmac with many carriers' flights.

Hotter than H*** and cooking.

Dunno about you guys, but work based BBQs always feel like "forced fun" to me.

Don't get me wrong, I'll take the couple hours off making like we are all one big happy family and playing the dumb games over working, but in the end, I'd rather they just sent us home to go have a real BBQ.

Very cool grill. Was concerned the thread was gonna be about gold front teeth grills so imagine my pleasant surprise :D

Not to rain on Delta's parade but back when it was Continental, the crew at the maintenance base at Hobby fabbed up this world class BBQ grill. I saw it in use at the Continental Classic Bike Ride held annually at the Sam Houston National Forest and at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Its since been repainted in United livery, but still lives at the maintenance base at Hobby.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!

You guys are hurting my eyes.

it will take longer and taste nasty, but go ahead.

:)

Yeah, I'm like the English teacher that bristles anytime she hears someone say, "Me and him..." I get that same feeling whenever I hear "BBQ" used in place of "grill".

Depends on the company I think. We generally have quarterly BBQ's (some grilling, some BBQ) with large smokers like these which were made by our welders/machinists. However, they aren't nearly as ornate as those pictured in this thread. We generally have a pretty good time as they are used for hot links/stuffed peppers/etc for the breakfast and then the typical pork/beef items for lunch. We don't make it an after-hours event, so most of the guys like to show off their cooking skills and have a good time socializing as opposed to eating a sack lunch.

Back when I was running airline stations, I did a ton of cookouts. At work. On the ramp. On the clock. Usually outside the bag makeup room or the freight dock. If you invite the tower guys and the airport CFR guys and have a fire extinguisher and stay 50 feet from aircraft you can get away with a lot at a smaller airline airport. Folks would come in ON THEIR DAY OFF to have a burger or a steak. People brought their kids to work to eat lunch. And we did turkey dinners on holidays, too. And we always had enough to feed the transiting flight crews.

At bigger hubs where I didn't have the horsepower to get away with a grill I did hoagies, subs, potato salad and cole slaw :)

One year, I gave (free) airplane rides in a rental C-172. Everyone had a great time. Oh, I never told the boss about that though. It is quite rewarding when your employees and coworkers trust you with their kids.
