The story doesn't mention Burt Rutan! I hope he gets a a nice hunk of money out of the deal. I wonder how much of Scaled Paul Allen owned, or if he just financed SpaceShipOne.

Somehow, Bruce, I envision Rutan's "retirement" as being very busy, with lots of productive and mentally-stimulating projects. Thinking like that is never switched-off.

I think it would be wise of Grumman to keep Rutan as senior advisor. What better way for Grumman to protect their investment?

However, this sale frees Burt to concentrate on other things such as his exclusive contract with Sir Branson (my hero).

Also, guys like Rutan spin off business all the time. Consider this as his coup de grace.

PS: the pessimist in me wonders who is Grumman grooming themselves for? Who is positioning themselves to buy Grumman?
