Remember that for a month or so, the lake actually helps warm the stadium. And create lake-effect snow.

Understand...and that's why the winters in Cleveland really weren't that bad. UNTIL the lake froze over.

OTOH...the cold moisture coming off the lake before it freezes chills right to the bone.

After 28 years as a Browns season ticket holder I finally gave mine up last year. These old bones can’t take the cold anymore. I am glad to see the team turning things around. I am content to sit in my living room next to the fireplace and watch them on the big screen. It was fun to fly in for a game though. It is hard to tell from the angle I took this picture but that was Dan Snyder’s plane behind me. You can see the teams logo on the vertical stabilizer.

You mean Amrap? And don't forget your white socks. Most locals don't know that Hoolihan and Big Chuck got their start as cast with the old Ghoulardi show. I was too young to really remember Ghoulardi but remember The Ghoul on Ch 61 and Super Host on 43. The Ghoul was actually an intern from the Ghoulardi show. Don't miss the cold though. Especially after years of sitting in the end zone bleachers at the old stadium before it was known as the Dawg Pound or the Kardiac Kids. But the stadium was great for the World Series of Rock concerts or an old-time Tuesday Indians matinee game where the bleachers were $2 and you could sneak into the box seats.

Toledo resident here. Fly into Toledo Suburban or Executive and go catch a Mudhens game (Uber is pretty good here). Much more fun than any pro baseball game as Toledo LOVES their Mudhens. The downtown area has been completely revitalized and tons of nice restaurants/bars (may an overnight lol) down by the stadium.

I have always enjoyed hitting up all the runways on the Islands (North/Middle/South Bass), especially 3W9 for some short(ish) field stuff. Like mentioned above, Kelly's has some good stuff to hit up. The West Bay Inn is a decent place to grab some food with a view. Lots of Wineries up on the islands if you're into that sort of thing.

I would classify the following as places to visit after seeing all the places above.

O74 (Elliott's Landing) is a grass strip in Mt Victory, OH (NW of Columbus) that has a old home style restaurant called The Plaza Inn. In fact, it's really a restaurant that has a small grass strip and that's all...so more of a "$100 hamburger," type trip. I grew up in a small town just north of there and used to see planes parked there all the time.

If you're really into Guns and want to check out some ridiculously expensive guns (like 5k is a cheap), fly into Findlay and go check out Jaqua's (pronounced Jake Ways). Plenty of good places in town to eat, maybe ask the staff for good local options as my favorite joint recently shut down.

Stay away from KERI. The AFD bynwhatever its new name is says "no landing fees," but they will mail you a bill for some after a while. You been warned . . . . .

So If I am coming back to Burke Kbkl after a sightseeing at Niagara and need to stop at Erie KERI to clear customs, are they still going to charge a landing fee?

Considering I survived grade school in Parma, it was thankfully the only time in my life that socks were held at such a high level. Since then I've proudly worn my white socks openly only to cover them up with boots when appropriate. Long live the Parma Polacks!

Hank - did you get a landing fee from the airport or a ramp fee from the FBO? I flew in a year ago ant the FBO was as nice as could be and no fees. I did not even top off. They did require a top off to use the curtesy car.

A friend was billed through the mail, $25, a month afger stopping in. The AFD says "no landing fees." Talking to the FBO and looking at the FBO's website shows two different fee schedules, neither of which appear on the airport website. How many ways and places are pilots expected to check to find out about fees? And which places have correct information? He was given a song-and-dance over the phone about how "things are being updated". Fine, update away, but list them where they can be found and don't charge $25 when the new listing says $5. Don't charge anything when the official FAA document says "no landing fees," regardless of what schemes the FBO ow er is cooking up.

    All of them.
"Each pilot in command shall, before beginning a flight, become familiar with all available information concerning that flight."

It has been over a year ago since I was there. It sounds like the FBO changed hands. I am going back soon to visit family. I will call ahead to confirm fees.
We have a similar situation at Burke with small landing fee from the airport authority but the FBO ramp fees can be substantial. It has conditioned me to call the FBO and ask about both when going to a new airport.

But the AFD doesnt have it. The airport website doesn't have it. How do you know, before getting a bill in the mail a month afterwards, that you have found "all available information"???

I really don't think "all available information" applies to landing/ramp fees.
