No sense of humor...

Other notable security theater confiscation fails -- because we need to keep the sheeple safe from scary things:

Here's the saddest part. Having a diabolical mind, someone like me could unsnap the two halves of that fart blaster apart, fit a 4 shot 25Ga Baretta or Tomcat, run a rod to the firing trigger(remove the guard of course), and have a pretty decent gun enclosed in a toy.

Please note, this is not any kind of endorsement of the TSA or other country's security theater.

Something that makes farting noises in a crowded, enclosed space? Could forseeably cause a panic.

Like an unnamed candidate for president from either major party after eating pork chop on a stick or other delicacy from a state fair food booth?

Cheers

Scary part is that it is possible to make a Chap Stick into a small explosive material, at 0.15 ounces, that will take a locked cockpit door off its hinges. So yes I can see not allowing a Play-doh can possibly full of plastique explosive onboard.

And miniature guns. I have a .22 pistol that mounts on a belt buckle. It a little bigger than the one you show next to the quarters. It fires real bullets. Should that be allowed on a commercial flight because it looks like a belt buckle? It sort of looks like the western themed wallet, which could be a real pistol. Possibly not but the threat could be just as real.

G.I. Joe gun. What part of zero tolerance do you not understand? A little overboard, but still zero tolerance. And I thought only the elite in the U.K. were allowed to own guns.

Are all these dangerous? Possibly not. But could be. Harmless box cutters brought down 4 airplanes and the world trade center. Your thinking is a terrorist delight.

That's too bad you're so fearful of everyday objects.

You must have a rough time coping in most public venues.

Furthermore, they have eyes, hands, and a GD x-ray machine. If they can't figure out that those are not guns, the only missing ingredients are brains or intent.

Exactly.

I'd rather take my risks with the big bad boogie man "terrorists" than live like a scared little mouse.

Who, these guys? -- From today's news:

A college student was sexually molested at LaGuardia Airport by a uniformed TSA agent who demanded she go into a bathroom with him after she got off a flight so she could be searched for a weapon, sources told The Post.
The 22-year-old victim, who is Korean, had gotten off a Southwest Airlines flight from Salt Lake City around 8 p.m. Tuesday when the agent, identified as Maxie Oquendo, 40, approached her near the B4 gate of Terminal B.
Ogendo then asked her to follow him so she could be searched to see if she was carrying a knife or a weapon.

The woman followed him up an escalator to the third floor, near a lounge and a bank of elevators, where he “lured” her inside a bathroom under the pretext of conducting a legitimate search, sources said.
Once inside the bathroom, he allegedly began to molest her.
First, the victim told authorities, he asked her to lift her shirt and began touching her.

Then he instructed her to unzip her pants and touched her again, the source said.

He then led her outside and she reported the incident.

Must have been groping around for dangerous looking toys.... I'm sure she feels safer now. :(

Disgusting! I hope that his position of authority makes the punishment much more severe.

Easily detected by the scanner at the security checkpoint.

Play-doh I can understand , everything else is just crazy

Don't even hide it. I forgot to leave my pocket knife and just threw it into the coin tray. Went right through.

As I recall from recent MSM reports, they failed to detect something like 92% of the time? Don't want to bother looking it up.

Well. you see Your Honor, I learned how to build one of these things on the internet at POA

Well if it's THAT serious why don't we make everyone strip down, put on a hospital gown style garment and take nothing with them?

A determined person can make almost anything into a weapon. There is no such thing as safe. There are only degrees of probability and risk tolerance. Mine says I'm comfortable enough with the low probability of an attack to let screeners use common sense and not treat passengers like children....and children like terrorists.

Then why go through the trouble of hiding it in the fart-gun rather than just sticking it into your briefcase ?

Security at the airport is just the perception of being safe, perception then becomes accepted as reality. A determined person can get weapons past security if they realy try.

Different perspective, but I get your point. In this case, we were discussing the relative merits of security theater confiscating a gun that the proletariat seems to think should get through the inspection. I gave a someone tongue in cheek reason why, and now we're off on something else.

That Fart gun is no more or less likely to be a decoy for a hidden firearm than anything else and it would be easily detected by either inspection or x-ray.

This week, flew back to the US from Munich germany. I dutifully packed my toothpaste in a 1 quart ziploc bag and put my belt in the bin on the conveyor. Meanwhile, nobody questioned my brother about the commercial box-truck he had parked right in front of the terminal to drop me off :wink2:
