I just upgraded my iPad 2 to the latest iPad Air and for some reason, I now have difficulty connecting my iPad to the Stratus 2. It has been really hit or miss for this whole trip. On the way out to AZ, when attempting to connect to a Stratus via WiFi, it would say it was unable to connect (my iPhone was connecting just fine however). The mid-way through the flight, it would suddenly connect and start talking. But today on the trip back I was never able to successfully connect on any of the legs I flew.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any ideas?

I presume you 'forget this device,' and hard rebooted the ipad air and then tried to do it again. . . .

Mac machines are becoming Win machines fast and some times rebooting the system solves all problems.

I've been having trouble with Safari interfering with the wifi connection. Rebooting usually "fixes" it.

I've had to hard boot my iPad and iPhone more than my Win8 laptop (which I haven't ever had to do).

An iPad/iPhone is not a MAC. Unlike the Windows mobile platforms which are adapted versions of the "desktop" OS, iOS is nothing much at all like OS/X.

I had a horrible time getting Bluetooth ipad 2 to a PS Engineering PMA8000BT the last time. I restarted the audio panel, "forgot it" on ipad, reconnected and blah blah after 10 minutes restarted both after full shutdown and it finally took.

My iPad 2 has been acting kinda weird for about 6 months now. :mad2:

Then I'd take it [the air2] to the genius bar - if they bust your arse about the stratus not being apple hardware etc etc - tell them that there is no connectivity hardware for these units that apple has not blessed - seems like the unit may have some corrupted software either in the wireless connectivity or in Foreflight itself. . . .

If you want to keep trying - I would delete foreflight. Hard reboot the Air - make sure it connects to wifi for internet - then turn if off. 5 min later reboot - and reinstall foreflight - only load the state you are in to make it load a little faster - open FF - make sure it works with the onboard GPS [either to the wifi unit or the internal a-gps] and then try to connect.

At least you will know if you had corrupted FF software. The solution then is to restart the Air2 as a new ipad and then reinstall everything - that will make sure your iOS is uncorrupted.

The question is does unit connect to Stratus in wifi but you're not getting data? Or is the air2 not connecting to the Stratus at all?

You have to reboot it every second Tuesday of the month if you're staying up on security patches. ;)

Mine gets rebooted every month on Patch Tuesday and makes for a nice paperweight the rest of the month.
