A few months ago I replaced a failing EGT probe on my O-320 with a K type EP-001 EGT probe. That worked well so I replaced another failing probe with the same type probe. This time the new probe is reading hot all the time.
I cut the wires coming through the firewall (red/yellow) and put crimp spade connectors on them to mate with the probes white/black wires spade connectors.

What is likely wrong causing the readings to be high all the time?
Did I put the white and black to the wrong red/yellow wires?
Do I have a bad connection, open or closed short?
Did I just get a bad new probe?

Don’t know about aviation versions or what tolerances they’re supposed to meet, but K type probes are notoriously inaccurate without some way to calibrate them in other electronic uses.

I’d say before you drive yourself crazy, test the silly thing off of the aircraft to see if it meets spec. It was made in the same factory in Shenzhen as the $0.01 version.
