Hey there pilot bros,

I created a new search tool for AME's and DPE's. I tried to add as many features as possible and make it super user friendly. I thought the METAR weather widget was particularly cool.

If anyone is willing to provide feedback or recommend I add any other features, I would greatly appreciate any insight! My goal is for it to be completely free to use and remain ad free.

Check it out: AME Lookup

If anyone is willing to provide feedback

Uh, first bit of feedback - you might want to make it actually work. I plugged in a zip code of 33844 which is in central Florida. Here's the result:

Pointing me to AMEs in Utah is a pretty bad result when searching in Florida. Did you guys test this thing?

Is that on the top search or the bottom one? I think I fixed it.

It was using my zip code and closest clinics to me...can you retest?

Can you tell me if the DPE tool is also only showing Utah ones?

This is why I need others to use it and discover any problems so I can modify the coding. Thx!

Same result as @Half Fast in the tops "quick search" box - actually, worse since at least his results were all in the same state as each other.

To me, having the "quick search" box makes no sense since the "full search" box is like an inch lower and seems to work just fine.

I'm also not sure what the purpose is for the METAR weather display.

Yeah the top 'quick search' seems to be adding unnecessary confusion.

Noted.

Removed.

The people have spoken. And they've been heard lol

The top search bar. It looks like it's working better, but not great. Here's what it pops up now:

Whereas if I use the bottom search bar, I get this:

I'm not sure what advantage it's offering over https://ameforesight.com/ame-search .

If you want to add something worthwhile, a search for physicians who will perform Basic Med exams would be great, but that's much harder data to get.
I just checked out AME Foresight. I didn't realize they had the DPE feature incorporated. But it does have ads on the pages...goal is for this one to remain AD FREE

Will look into how to acquire data on Basic Med docs...agreed this data is less readily available.

I got a suggestion add BasicMed... Add the ability for non-AMEs that provide BasicMed to be searched also. They would have to ask to be added or something like that. That would be very helpful to those that do not see an AME for their BasciMed exam and many primary care providers simply refuse to do them (not knowing it's easier - checklist - than an annual physical).

There is perfect amount of space after 'Employee Examiner'

Do you know a good database that has AME's and docs that do Basic Med? That's the tricky part...if I had that data adding the filter to find them would be relatively easy.

And agree about the words 'Basic Med' fitting into that spot almost perfectly! lol

Top box: put in Bolingbrook or Bolingbrook IL or 60490 and you get Dr. Ken Y in Aurora.
Can you refresh the web page? The top box should be gone now.

When I searched for Bolingbrook, zip 60490, or even entire state Illinois and filtering for HIMS AME's I see your profile.

Refresh and check again. Quick search box is now gone.

I added a basic med search feature and a few providers that do Basic Med but don't have a complete database. I did also add a way for AME's to self identify that they do Basic Med which will make them discoverable in the future...it may just be a slower build out.

When nothing comes up for search results, that's where you should have a link or request to add BasicMed provider to registry.

Are you envisioning that the medical provider adds themselves or that pilots add doctors they've used for Basic Med in the past?

It worked for my north-of-Cincinnati zip code, even came up with my AME as I widened the parameters.

Both. In many cases I would see provider requesting to be added. Even a simple request - contact form - some where on the page would do.

I think it's that comma and IL that's throwing it off. Let me see if I can make it auto fill the remaining city/state when typing it in to prevent these types of errors. If you search by just the city you are the only one that comes up. See below: Screenshot 2026-02-22 at 11.48.37.png

I tried many major cities... Zero results. Tried Bolingbrook, Il - zero. Unchecked all - zero. Issue resolves without state and only city.

Zip codes seem to work just fine.

Quick fix: Rather than: City, State, Zip or AME Name... Use this: City or State or Zip or AME Name...

All those perimeters work individually.

I'm working on way to auto-populate cities so that spelling won't be an issue or adding the state won't break the search. Thx!

This thread demonstrates why my career in programming didn't last long and I got promoted into something less dangerous.

you did the "programming" for that tool?

you did the "programming" for that tool?
No. In my day programming was done in Cobol or BAL on IBM Mainframes, and later in DSM (Digital Standard MUMPS. MUMPS = Massachusetts General Hospital Utility Multi Programming System) on a Digital Equipment PDP-11 and later on a Digital VAX system. The VAX OS was the Betamax equivalent that lost out to the more ubiquitous but less reliable Unix(VHS) systems.

edit: I was just pointing out how frustrating it was to think you have programmed something good and functional, and then release it to the beta testers.

you would have loved java, write once debug it EVERYWHERE

Looks like an excuse to spend One Night In Bangkok.
