Received my Air Force Magazine today and there was a short article on the "Commode Bomb", dropped by an A-1 from the USS Midway to mark the Navy's 6th millionth pound of ordnance over N.Vietnam. Pilot was unaware that the ground crew put it onboard. When released it almost hit his wingman. Only the Navy!

Pretty poor walk around pre-flight ;)

If it was after preflight, hard to miss the Red Shirts carrying a Commode out to the wing.

The way I heard it, it was the Air Boss who was unaware and asked on air "What the hell was that on 572's wing?????" The Pilot was well aware.

Cheers

One minor edit, one minor edit....

Gives new meaning to "Hang on, I need to GO".

Pretty sure the pilot knew he was flying a toilet. Actually just flew an old Skyraider / Skyhawk pilot yesterday.
