Was unaware of some of these...even my home state. Was also unable to get all 50 states in the poll. Oh well

Apparently the fluffernutter is the Massachusetts state sandwich

But, I confess I'd rather have a philly cheesesteak

The Green Chile Cheeseburger is officially recognized as New Mexico's state sandwich. It features a beef patty topped with roasted green chiles and cheese. The green chiles used are typically Hatch chiles, known for their unique flavor which reflects New Mexico's rich culinary heritage and love for green chiles. It is often served with traditional sides like fries or onion rings.

Had a very good hatch green chili cheeseburger in Cimmaron once, and a great green chili breakfast burrito at B&E Burrito in Hatch. Good stuff!

Franklin Giant Grinder, Hartford, CT. That and New Haven pizza are probably the only two things I miss.

I chose the Fried Bologna sammy - because there was no Philly Cheese Steak in the list.

Gotta be a PBJ somewhere
Idaho
Where is the Rueben sandwich?
Michigan

Without thinking about it too much, this is probably my very rough ranking:

Muffuletta
Pastrami on Rye
Cuban
Banh Mi
Hot Lobster Roll
Po Boy
Reuben
Smoked Brisket
Pulled Pork
Italian Sub
Roast Beef
French Dip
Grilled Cheese
Patty Melt
PBJ
Cheesesteak
Salmon Sandwich
Sloppy Joe
Kalua pork
Fried Bologna
Bobbie
Sausage Biscuit

Mmm…. Kansas burnt ends. I would dive face first into that with my hands behind my back.

But, that’s a KC thing and not necessarily a Kansas thing. KC bbq does carry over across State Line Rd, but most consider KC bbq to be on the MO side.

There are a couple on the list that I passed up simply because I would prefer the meat in a different form. For example, I'd rather have burnt ends on the side than in a sandwich. Similarly, I'd rather have kalua pig with a side of rice and mac-n-cheese.

I take issue with the so-called "Blackstone Reuben" depicted for Nebraska. The birthplace of the Reuben was the Blackstone hotel in Omaha, so the name is certainly understandable, but a Reuben made with chunks of corned beef in place of sliced... well, generally we just refer to that as an improperly made attempted Reuben. I will make an exception of the corned beef is tender enough to melt in your mouth AND the cheese is well melted, but that's so rare as to be nearly nonexistent.

Not that I'm a big fan of Reubens or anything.

I love a good Reuben but they’re hard to get right. Ordering one is always a roll of the dice.
Apparently I rolled craps yesterday.
At least it was a nice flight.

Nauga,
and his Monday food run

I know, I've seen some real abominations passed off as Reubens.

I’ll refrain from casting a vote out of fear of insulting any sensitive sandwiches.

huh?

somehow Italy doesn't leap to mind when I think about the finest tasting beef. (and I grew up in an Italian neighborhood)

Italian beef is rancid, but so heavily seasoned that the average consumer can’t tell. ;)

I'm referring to a Chicago style Italian Beef Sandwich, so named as it was created by Italian immigrant families. For more details, check out this recipe.

Made me look.

"Another famous sandwich invented in California is the French Dip."

Well if it's a French Dip, it should be French. Or, maybe Canadian. No, if California has a state sandwich it should be Tri TIp.

I like French dips - enough to brave Phillipe's at lunch hour - and I have to say I agree with you.
If you consider LA definitive of California I'd probably say a Tommyburger, but only between ~2am and 8am.

Nauga,
so stated
