I'm taking the family to Nashville next week to check out Vanderbilt U. for my daughter and see a few sites while we're there. At the moment I plan to land at Smyrna KMQY.

Anyone have any feedback KMQY.

Secondly, what is the status of the various Nashville sites and activities given the flooding problems?

You should consider John Tune airport. It is closer to Vanderbilt and a nice place to visit.

Welcome to Nashville (well, almost :) ). As the post above stated, I'd recommend JWN. Tune is significantly closer to Vandy. But that's not what you asked.

MQY is a great field. One advantage over JWN is that there are 2 runways. The FBO at MQY is a bit older than the one at JWN. The controllers at MQY and BNA work exceptionally well together (Smyrna sits under Nashville's Class C shelf).

You won't go wrong with either field.

As for flood damage, most everything is back open sans Opryland/Oprymills.

Safe travels.

My son's a Vanderbilt grad. Great school. I always used Tune when we visited him.

My parents live about 20 minutes away from Tune and we fly in there whenever we visit. Nice airport, friendly staff.

Just got back from Nashville. The staff at Tune are a great bunch of folks. Fast and efficient. You can rent a Hertz car and they'll bring it out to your plane before you even get you and your stuff out. Full service fuel is a little pricey, but it is worth it to keep places this good in business. They also have self serve fuel. Nice tie downs and clean facilities.

Don't try to move your daughter's household at this time of year. It is hot!!! Darn near killed my wife and I moving my daughter and granddaughter to a place in Hendersonville on Saturday. Relentless sun and heat. I really don't think I could live there in the summer.
