Saw this article/video this morning.

Basically NASA is dropping 172's from ~100 ft onto various surfaces to test ELT performance and to try and come up with new standards to make them more reliable.

I'm sure a lot of students landings could be considered controlled crashes. Not say I ever had a bad landing.

I try on every single landing but so far managed to walk away every time. *shrug*

I thought that was what a short field landing was. A crash landing where you can use the plane again.
