Well, Len... me and google are stumped. The only thing it turns up (other than lots of lyrics written by assorted Petersons) is Shotgun Peterson. Man, I hope that's not it, 'cause it's morbid!

Actually, Peterson isn't part of the song. At the start of the movie Peterson goes around saying "It doesn't sing.". At the end of the movie he tells a certain tall actor who used to own a destoryer mine sweeper and play cowboys a lot what did sing.

The movie features several aircraft...helicopters, fighter/bombers, a gun ship and a cargo ship doing something you see in only one other movie.

The person who sung the song was known as the Singing Sergeant.
