[NA] Abuse of user data not all are aware of

Life360 user?
Gasbuddy?

They are telling underwriters about your driving.

And people call me crazy when they see that I have Location disabled on my phone. And Wifi. And Mobile Data. And Bluetooth. And Link to Windows. Okay, I may be a little crazy, but at least that story will never happen to me!

With a phone in my pocket, sure hope they don’t think my truck is doing 180 mph while not following a road map

As long as they don't tell 'em about my flying!

Did you carve a phone out of a block of wood?

Get a Oneplus. OxygenOS aggressively shuts down apps when not used.

Does it then install new 'features' every update that are impossible to uninstall? Does it provide me a quick and easy way to see every background task and choose to stop any single one of them? Does it use a 'Messages' app that sends my data to Google or some other Mega-Corporation? Does it force you to agree to new terms and conditions every few months to keep using the phone or otherwise assume you've agreed simply by your continued use of the phone?

Why not just get a landline? Problems solved; problems staying solved.

How do you know those "features" are truly disabled? <evil grin>

Not sure why you would give basically any app your location at all times. Basically every app I have that plausibly needs location data to operate gets “only when using the app” or “allow once” and authorize it each time. At minimum it saves battery as location services are a power hog and also mitigates stuff like this. iOS is quite aggressive about stopping apps once they are in the background so generally “when using the app” means it is in the foreground and +/- 5-10 minutes.

Or, you can just do as I did, and tie the phone's biometric authentication to the quantum-entangled version of me instead of the Earth version. So when I use my phone it thinks that I'm billions of light years away instead of in Rockville, MD.

But I use Android; not sure if you can do in iOS.
