Hi Guys,
I need your help identifying something: In a C414 I started flying, there is a lever or slider right between the two front seats labeled "TRIM SPRING" (I think). See the attached pictures. There is no mention of what this is in either the POH or the Simcom manual. I've asked the mechanic and he doesn't know either. Sticking with the old adage of "If you don't know what it does, don't touch it", I have not played with it. Do you guys have any information on what this lever does? (other than just guessing :) )

Thanks

It's very hard to read with the glare and carpet covering part of the plate. Looks like it changes the spring load on the elevator based on cg. There should be some reference to it in the POH.

What year 414?

Right on George. Here is Roberson STOL description:
"A variable elevator trim system is incorporated with a
two-position selector handle to compensate for nose-down pitch
at different CG positions. As the Fowler flaps add about 13-percent
additional area aft of the chord, the center of lift shifts aft tending to
pitch the nose down. The automatic trim system relieves the pilot
from having to adjust trim during approach and landing or during
cleanup after takeoff or go-around."
