Flashaholics represent, yo.

I have an HDS Systems rotary 200 that lives in my pants pocket. I notice they now have a 250 that sorely tempts me.

I keep a SureFire P2X Fury in the flight bag, and I have an ancient (but still going strong) Arc AAA on my keychain.

Lots of others, of course, but these are in daily use.

Too steep for my blood!

Mag Lites work well. I had to taxi in one night using my LED Mini Mag Lite when my landing light burned out. It worked well despite the light fog forming . . . but my arm out the storm window was cold!

Check out these: www.niteize.com for some interesting small lights and lots of other fun things. Even the phone/tablet mounts look interesting, as long as you keep them away from the mag compass.

I think mine are in the $20-50 range not $200+ and use AA batteries.

Yeah. There's no reason to spend this much on a flashlight. That's what pushes this into obsession territory.

(The HDS light, as I understand it, is dual core (microcontrollers in head and tail). It's programmable. It has menus.)

I saw the $NAME and was wondering if you were working on a Tandem system. $SYSTEM was the main disc. Any resource on Guardian started with a "$". :D

'Hopeless flashaholic here, too. Olight S10-L2 Baton in the pocket (check it out 400 lumens!). Awesome Niwalker Nova MM15 the newest toy. Absolutely won't buy any crap flashlights again.

Wow. Over an hour at 400 lumens. That's insane. Emitters have really come a long way. How's the build quality?

I've carried a Surefire Aviator A2 daily for about 4 years now. Not the best flashlight I've had but its the most expensive. Full disclosure, I had a coupon for it, so decided to try it out at 50% off.

That oLight looks neat.

Oh, yeah. You cannot pass up another deal to buy a flashlight and no matter how many you have you can't find one when you need it.

Do you guys collect knives too? I know one flashaholic, and he also has a huge collection of knives of all shapes and sizes.

Yup. Though not as many. OTOH, if steel improved as fast as LEDs I would.

Poseurs ;)

Nauga,

In the collectable knife, and firearm community, flashlights seem to be another obsession with some, as are often watches, which can run into big $$$.

That's one of the reasons I posted. There are either some flashlight "enthusiasts" here, or there are some that would be, if they knew about it.

If you take the obsession with small well made bit of tech far enough, you end up here: EDC Forums. How much functionality can you have with you at all times.

For me, I started with flashlights over 10 years ago. Got caught in a big, windowless building during a power outage. Started looking around for something to keep in the desk. LED lights were just getting started and that's when I got hooked. Now I always have a very capable light on me (pants pocket), and when I'm not in a nanny state facility, a good locking folder (knife).

I have to admit, I am a member here.

And there are a bunch of guys who collect campstoves.

Theory: All these people lived (and perhaps died) in a previous life, where they were unprepared for the elements. I'll bet many also have fire-starters!

When I read the title I imagined a guy in a long trench coat flashing people.

I have a smith& Wesson led flashlight that has both red and white LEDs. It only cost me $30.
