Of course, the sad news is that it's probably still working to some degree. :mad2:

So, it says you have wasted a lot of money in the hands of fraudsters. Exactly how much money have you wasted..???:lol::lol:

I once answered an email that asked me for help to move money out of their country to the US. I told them the easiest way to move money was for me to set it up into my account. I asked their bank account and routing number along with their international money transfer number.

A week later I received everything I needed to make a money transfer from their account into my fake account I would open to make the transfer.

A couple weeks later I received an email from them stating that they have noticed I have not made the bank transfer yet.

I replied back that it would take 500 USD to initiate the transfer, and told them that as soon as I received the cash money in the mail then I would make the transfer.

Funny, they accused me of trying to scam money from them.... :dunno: :lol::lol:

It is sad that some people still fall for this but...

Not too long ago, a young lady in our flying club received one of these emails from someone with the same last name (spelled different) as another person in our flying club. The email stated something about the person was travelling in the Philippines, lost their passports and cash, and of course, to send money. The good heart-ed young lady promptly sent $500 cash to the fraudster. She was of course concerned and called the other member of the flying club, the one that she thought was stranded overseas, to find out if he received the money. You know the rest of the story...

Hello,

I am Benjamin Bashar, I served in the Libyan presidency on defence and my status put me in a position of responsibility and authority.

I am interested in doing business with you as I am in possession of some funds, US$ 65, 000, 000 .00 (SIXTY FIVE MILLION UNITED STATES DOLLARS), which I wish to invest as a matter of urgency through you. If you are conversant with public issues, Libya recently went through terrible strive/civil war.

I was mandated as Head of Delegation to purchase arms/ ammunitions by the government of Libya (Gaddafi Government). I had already finished negotiations and this said sum was already transferred into an escrow account to a Bank in Hong Kong, which I am the only signatory to this escrow account.

I was in the Republic of Malta, (Republic of Malta is just 221 miles from Tripoli, Libya) for the arms/ ammunitions negotiations when I learnt of the death of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi. I immediately stopped all negotiations on the arms purchase as the funds was already in an escrow account as funds meant for Offshore investment with the space of the Fund Manager left blank. Presently, the existence of this money is unknown to any body and is backed up by a Certificate of Clean fund issued by the Hong Kong Government absolving the money from drugs or money laundering activities.

I find it necessary to invest this money offshore in viable business ventures through your company or your personal guidance and assistance. I have worked on the whole arrangement and only expect your favourable response to put the machinery into motion that will further our mutual personal and business relationship.

I am currently in the Republic of Malta on political asylum grant as such I cannot move these funds out of the Escrow account in Hong Kong as the law prohibits an asylum seeker of such activity or even to operate an account.

You may contact me on the phone number or email address provided below so I can give you details of the whole arrangement I have made which are absolutely smooth and will ensure no delays once we work hand in hand with each other.

I await your esteemed response while counting on your sense of confidentiality, as it is my desire for this to be done as directly as possible. I will offer you 20% of the total money and the remaining 80% will be for my investment in your country.

Please, kindly reply to my private Email: [email protected]

This is a deal and I would appreciate if we keep it that way, in any case you are not interested then do not bother responding, just ignore the conversation.

Thanks for your time.

Regards,

The sad news is they have no other form of income.

I will have to disagree, I am not going to steal from others if I have no source of income. I am going to find a source of income, move, or grow something to eat.

Yes, you are right, but is that our fault or their governments fault?

It's our market's fault, they install the governments like mafia bosses who kick up to them. Truly, we are the source of our own misery.

I will have to disagree, I am not going to steal from others if I have no source of income. I am going to find a source of income, move, or grow something to eat.

Go move to Nigeria for a month and see the opportunities that are present and see if you say the same. How about when you grow that food and the soldiers come and harvest it and take it with them, along with your children.

Not an option in a lot of countries. Another reason I am thankful for living in the USA.

I've read one theory that these scam pitches have developed to be deliberately obtuse. It is not in the interest of the scammers to get crafty and sucker a person of near-ordinary intelligence. They only want the dumbest of the dumb to take the bait, so they craft a pitch that most people will see through and ignore, and only a true moron might possibly believe.

Go move to Nigeria for a month and see the opportunities that are present and see if you say the same.

If I own a computer and have purchased internet access, or even if I have found a way to borrow this on a regular basis (as the scammers have), I posit that I would be able to find a way to eat, even in Nigeria - without stealing.
I am fully aware of the hard times many of the people in these countries are suffering from, but I suspect scammers are not as destitute as that.
