have a set of servos... but the brackets are from a different Cessna. Does anyone know where I could buy a set of brackets for a C-172 possibly?
ALSO, if the airplane still has brackets from a "Navomatic 300"... original cessna... can these be used to mount the new servos.
Please excuse my ignorance on this stuff.
I very much appreciate the coaching I get from POA.

The STC Group should be able to sell you what you need. Installing the autopilot is a little more involved than just mounting parts. You'll need some paperwork too - drawings for your model of Cessna, an STC permission letter, etc.

thanks for the note. I'm having a shop install that's done them before and recommended by stc group... just prematurely jumped at buying some servos that should work w the c172D I have, but they came out of a much heavier cessna. One of the brackets is just flat... I assume it goes in the fuselage... but the other has an angle mount that I'm betting' needs to specifically fit a cessna 172 wing... it's really the only one that looks like it'd be fussy. I've heard a bracket from a cessna with th old vegomatic (navomatic...)autopilot might work... but if I can buy brackets from STC, that'd be the way to go.

The STC group uses their own brackets for installs. Every one I've done so far, we've removed whatever was installed (STec, Navomatic, Piper Autocontrol) and installed the Trio hardware. Typically they will ask what's in the plane and provide plates to cover holes, or lack there of, to fit.

No.
The Trio hardware that you purchase from Trio or a distributor or a private party is for EXPERIMENTAL use only, not in a Cessna 172. A Trio servo or autopilot head purchased from anyone else cannot be used in a certified installation.

Trio does make the servos and control heads for The STC Group, but the ones for STC use are set apart with FAA STC PMA designation.

The STC Group developed installation packages for certified aircraft and sell these packages as, well, packages which include the autopilot components, installation brackets, hardware, along with the STC and STC permission letter. They developed the installs and got approval from the FAA in the form of STCs. They sell these packages as, well, packages in order to profit from their work.

In order to use Trio parts in a certified aircraft, you are on your own to make your brackets and hardware AND to get FAA approval for the install in the form of a field approval or one-time STC. And that’s not going to happen.

If you want a Trio AP in your 172, get the package from The STC Group.
