Simple question, any differences of note when flying a fixed pitch (i.e. C172) in the mountains vs a complex (i.e. 172rg)? Did mountain flying, including checkout/training in 172 and have since picked up complex endorsement. I'm thinking nothing noteworthy but, am I missing something that a discussion with cfi would take care of?

Aside from making less MP at higher altitudes, not really anything mt specific.

Know what to do with the prop for a canyon turn, really nothing special compared to flying a fixed pitch.

You and James are right. Nothing really noteworthy. Both lose power at high density altitude. The only real constant speed difference is, since propeller efficiency and, hence thrust, are also lessened, if you are reducing prop for the enroute climb (most don't but I've heard of people who do), you might consider keeping it up there, although, perhaps obviously, not above redline.

Thanks for the replies. Just one more question, how do I land? j/k
