Pattern Altitude
AOPA article Most feared aircraft of WWII being the L type or Piper J-3
My uncle flew a Mustang in the war. He told me the spotter plane guys had the biggest cajones - flying at low altitude with every jap in the area trying to put a bullet up their butt.
Those are the birds I used to fly down in San Antonio with the Alamo Liaison Squadron - www.als-cannonfield.com. I used to fly their L-5, L-2, and J-3 before work made me move. I miss 'em a lot. www.lbirds.com tells a little bit of the story, but I haven't finished a major update I hope to complete in the future.
