MOSAIC: Will G/A Innovation return to USA?

Most of european wonders you are referring to are just toys for very rich people - we are talking here 300-400k for a two seater with gross around 1500 lbs.

True innovation ( at least in context of availability to, say upper middle class ) is happening in the EAB world and actually mostly in US …
In Russia, Sumara---they are building some wonderful looking multi-engine amphibians---L72 SeaBear is one of them.

Interesting... But are they really building them? The web site doesn't inspire confidence. It's not that there's anything wrong with the site, but they have no "news" since 2020, and both the main page and "Aircraft" only talk about the L-65 (4 seat amphib, 2x Rotax 915is @ 141hp ea). The News section talks about the L-45 and L-72 but I had to Google to find the L-72 specs. Pretty cool to have a 6-seat twin amphib but is it real?

There is also a Russian web site, but I haven't bothered with translation just yet...

I have tried to reach them--no luck.

There is a dude in Australia who apparently flew one around the world after purchase.

Tried to reach him to---no luck.

I have also inquired with some "international aircraft brokers", same result.

Tried also with their chamber of commerce--sounds of silence.

I suspect the difficulty relates back to "the war" of which we always seem to have to be involved with, but who knows.

Price depending, I would have to think there is at least somewhat of a market for something like this in North America.

I mean, at Russian prices, I'm in! Maybe not so much with Russian reliability, though...

I do like the concept a lot. I was really hoping the certification effort for the Seawind would pan out, but with the passing of Richard Silva it is highly unlikely that will ever happen. A 4+ seat flying boat with reasonable speed would be a heckuva fun machine.

Looking at the older Russian radials not to mention the dispatch rates of their high-end fighters (compared to US fighters), I would have a hard time taking a swing at Russian reliability. Of course, no first hand experience. The price would obviously be a concern. I have heard anywhere from 300K to 500K, but again--no definitive prices have been located. I have also heard that you can put Lycoming 390s on it. The videos on youtube look pretty amazing. There is an "areovolga" that is also interesting--looks bigger.
