Morris, IL - Saturday 11/17?

Well guys, I think I'm out. :(

Vis is down to 4 in mist up here, forecast is for rain from 10-2 when I'd be flying but it's snow on the radar right now, we're in the northeast corner of the low pressure system, freezing levels are way low, and I'm stuck with a bird that I hardly ever fly and I consider to be a Day VFR only airplane. Plus, I'm really tired, and I have to work later today (MSN->EAU->CWA->MSN at 0 AGL). A down-low hour-long scud run in a bird I don't trust much when I have some major get-there-itis-fuel and not much in the way of options just doesn't sound like fun. :(

Catch ya next time...

Were it the 182 and not icing, I'm fine with the above... Not so much 41E and ice, though. Ick.

It was beeyootahful at morris. Dr Bruce and spousal accompaniament, Barb Miller, Mike Andrews, my dad, and myself made it. We had 7-10 miles vis on the way there and I was at 4500 for some of the way. Dad stayed down at 3000, and was no trouble getting in. Dad left before me on the way back and was at 2500 until I had to stop at BEH because I had 2 cups of coffee too many at Morris. He was probably 30 minutes or so ahead of me, and got into Hastings VFR - just barely legal. GRR was reporting 3000 and 3, AZO was reporting 1400/2200 and 4 when I was about 30 mins out. Then with about 12 mins I went IMC, so I called up GRR and got a pop up back home, and was pretty much to minimums when I landed at Hastings. Oh, and I was also getting some ice while being vectored for the approach. Good times.

ed - I'm glad that Brad dint have too much coffee

I made it home just at dark. It was pretty scuzzy coming up the Lake Michigan side but the reported viz was never below 4miles and 1300 ft few clouds with light rain(no ice for me). Just north of Grand Rapids it cleared up and I could see the lights of Saginaw from Clare over 30 miles away.

7.4 hours and an enjoyable lunch. What a great day!

Well! Look who is only a fair weather flyer!

I should have everything back home where it belongs by sunset today (Sunday). Lesse, two landings, 4 cars, 120 mile drive. Planes, cars, and automobiles.

$350 hamburger.

Dad is lucky. I was worried about him. If I was a student hitting what I did, I would have hung it up and never flown again.

We were on 122.75, and I said if you feel uncomfortable at all, just land anywhere close, and I'll get you. He was waiting for me when I got back.
