Tony's great posts about his soaring endeavors have made me quite nostalgic. Soaring was a huge part of my life for many years and was my introduction to aviation. Heck, without soaring I would not be on this board today.
I found this photo from who knows when of my Standard Cirrus glider staged for the start of an SSA regional soaring competion. This was the standard class launch grid. Today these planes would be in the old timers group I suspect. It was always a thrill to launch at a contest. Generally you never knew if you'd complete the task or end up with a long retrieve. The adrenaline flowed freely.
As always I'd encourage any board members who haven't tried soaring to do so.
