We had a Bell 47 land at N99 a couple of weeks ago. Some 47's were born the same year I was (1943)! Us old farts remember the Bell 47 from M*A*S*H...

I didn't get to see it up close (I didn't notice it until I was taxiing for takeoff) but I did pass him on my way back to the airport -- we were both about 700 agl and he passed in front of me left to right (but not so close that I had to avoid).

The attached pic is from airliners.com.

Anyway, that there are still some real vintage helicopters still flying today proves that the writer of the quote was just suffering from rotor any :yes:

I'm younger than you and I remember them from an old 1950s TV show called "Whirlybirds". :D
