I've always been impressed with the products, TV mounts, and quality of cables (and especially price, delivery and service) that I've received from MonoPrice.com...

They just announced a MHD Sport Wifi-enabled Action Camera that looks an awful lot like a GoPro. "This compact camera features a 1/2.5" 5.0 megapixel CMOS sensor. It is capable of recording full motion H.264 video at 1080p at 30 frames per second or at the lower 720p resolution at a full 60 fps. New design, amazing sound, same unbelievable price!" Their pre-order price is $176.88.

I have no connection, just thought you guys would want to know, as much as we like filming from multiple angles while flying.

Monoprice's my go to for all cables and such. I'm a sucker for a deal. My HD Drift 170 serves me well, but at this price point, it's worth a test run. I'm in.

Nice find.... I haven't looked at their products in a long time.

I ordered one too. I'll probably end up with a GoPro Hero3 Black Edition too at some point (maybe not, if this thing rocks), but at that price point I had to get one for the "alternate" view having two cameras allows when editing the video.

I'd love to see some real video taken with this to see how it stacks up against the GoPro.

Not to hijack the thread, but since we're talking about GoPro's competition. If this one makes it to production, it's gonna be a game changer.

I just got notification that it is shipping today, I should have it by Friday and will try to post a report by Monday.

Good timing...my new quad copter is also arriving Thursday, so now I'll have payload to film with!

Those are neat, though I would hate to deal with editing and am guessing most of the results will be painful to watch. No experience with it but saw a positive review for this one http://www.amazon.com/SVC-200-Digital-Camcorder-Outdoor-Surveillance/dp/B009YY850A

Wow.. Looks like it rolled off the same line as the GoPro...

I'll be interested to see how it works out. I just can't justify the cost of a GoPro for as little as I would actually use it, but I can think of a few times when it would be really handy.

An interesting 60 Minutes segment on GoPro the other night. Certainly a game changer.

I'm happy with my Drift camera, but I've had great luck with Monoprice products and wouldn't hesitate to buy a camera from them if I needed another.

Personally, I don't think the video is as good as a GoPro. The menu system is better--awesome LCD on top that walks you through all options, annunciates what each button (shutter / mode) will do when you click it, etc. But the video itself, at 1080p 30fps is a little more grainy (noise) than a GoPro. YGWYPF.

Here's two simple tests in my home office. Be sure to kick the videos up to full HD when watching them off YouTube.

First is with the camera in the included plastic/waterproof case:

Then I shot another with the camera out of the case, thinking that maybe the case was causing the "noise":

It'll be a bit before I get in-flight footage to share.

You clearly need more monitors. :)

And an foot stool.

Those three on the right are usually used for flight simulation. The TrackIR device on the left monitor is placed on the center monitor when I'm flying, and lets me "look" around the cockpit in Virtual Cockpit mode.

You sure you don't have that in wide angle or fish eye mode or something Troy? I know the Go pro can do something like that and it makes the video look like hell.

If you look at the edges of the video it has some major fish eye going on...Can that be disabled? Probably help your video quality, a lot.

Not bad. Guessing it will be alot better outside in sunlight.

That was in their default super view mode. I'll shoot some video and stills in each possible mode on Wednesday when it is forecast to be sunny.

Here's the outdoor quick test, just sitting on the dash of my truck while I headed to the gym. Edited it a bit so you didn't have to wait through the red light. Again, be sure to select the highest resolution... YouTube doesn't default to it automatically.

I think you have sold me on it... thanks for the videos

He's a piker. I have a 3 28" and 27" 1920x1200 monitor setup on my work computer, one 28" on this one, a 22" 1920x1080 over my shoulder. A 73" HDTV, another 27" 1080P monitor next to it, a 37" HDTV coming to go next to that....two 1200x1024 monitors on my workbench where I have two computers.
There are 9 computers within reach here and one more out the window.

I need more. I almost bought another monitor just a week ago.
